The Xerces Society is offering a free, online course on identification of fireflies of the U.S. and Canada. This 3-day course will familiarize participants with North American firefly genera (north of Mexico); provide detailed information on how to observe, identify, and collect specimens; and highlight 14 regional species of conservation concern to aid Firefly Atlas participants in survey and ID efforts. Attendees will become confident in differentiating firefly genera and more comfortable with identifying species with conservation needs and/or data gaps.

The course will be delivered as a Zoom webinar and will be taught by firefly expert Dr. Oliver Keller.
