Not sure about the specie. I saw female and male fireflies. Some where copulating. Habitat my garden.

  1. Thank you for this firefly observation! I wish that Firefly Atlas had the capacity to receive and verify observations from Mexico, but unfortunately our scope is currently limited to the USA and Canada. If you haven’t already, I recommend submitting fireflies to iNaturalist, which has a global scope.

    I am fairly confident that these fireflies are in the genus Photinus, and a possible species is Photinus extensus, which seems to persist okay in urbanized settings. You can see photos of Photinus extensus here: https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/911463-Photinus-extensus.
