  1. Thanks for submitting this incidental firefly observation! This firefly is a female Photuris. You can identify this genus by the long legs, the somewhat hunched posture, and the shape of the lanterns/light organs. The two oval lanterns that don’t fill the segments they are on are a good indicator of a female Photuris. Based on the location, Photuris fairchildi is a possibility, but male flash pattern details would be needed to confirm.
