A few notes about flash pattern terminology:
Flash pattern period would be the number of seconds between the start of one flash and the start of the next flash.
Flash duration is the length of each pulse of light– this is hard to measure in the field, so it’s fine to either put “not recorded,” “brief,” or something like “<0.5 seconds." A 1-second flash duration is actually pretty long, and I think in video recordings, Bw has a flash duration of more like 0.1 seconds.
Flash interval is the number of seconds between the end of one flash and the start of the next flash-- in simple, single-flashers, this is often just slightly shorter than the flash pattern period, but in species with multi-pulse flash patterns of long single flashes, it may be significantly shorter.
Narrating flashes into a voice recorder/voice memo app is one way to document flash patterns in the field.
