Thank you for submitting this intriguing firefly observation! Without a photo of the beetle up close, it is difficult to confirm what type it was. In this region, there are a few other species of flashing firefly (including the starry firefly, Photinus stellaris) and the Texas glowing click beetle (Deilelater physoderus), which is also bioluminescent. So we unfortunately can’t assume that the beetle observed was a sky island firefly (Photuris falli, formerly Photuris flavicollis).
