We live just across a river from a village with a population of about 5000. We are surrounded by soybean fields. Across the road from our house is the Blanchard River, which is low for this time of year due to lack of rain.

Observation Notes:

We have seen an amazing amount of fireflies this summer starting in mid June. We are surrounded by a soybean field and every night you can see hundreds or more beautiful little bodies flashing in the night.

This is not a scientific observation, so I am not sure of the answers to most of the questions listed above. The flashes were seen in our yard, in the tree line along the river across the road from our house, and across the soybean field that surrounds our house.
