  1. Thanks for submitting this incidental firefly observation! A confident species ID isn’t possible for this observation without a picture of the firefly, but based on the location, the time of year, and your description of the flash pattern, some options include Photinus pyralis and Pyractomena punctiventris. For both of those species, I would expect a slightly longer flash pattern period, but they are both found in grassy habitats in Texas.
