Observation Notes:

.6" Found in house crawling on floor. Outside habitat is woods about 300 feet uphill from a marsh I'm very curious what this little lady is. The closest I could find in Faust was P. sabulosus, just a guess

  1. Neat find! My guess is that this female is in the consanguineus complex of the Photinus genus: this includes Photinus greeni, Photinus macdermotti, Photinus consanguineus, Photinus ignitus, and Photinus aquilonius. Looking at the flash patterns of males in the area might be your best bet for narrowing down options.

  2. Also, if you happen to have a ruler with cm and mm rather than inches, that would be helpful, as most firefly sizes reported in the literature are in metric.
