Low to mid level veg w/a predominantly open canopy. Most fireflies were seen along a steep bank (south facing) with Baccharis sarothroides as the main canopy cover. Water was slow moving in the area/ponding/ elbow of a bend.

I didn’t have an easy way to measure. Prominent in lower veg of 0-3 ft in height- mixed height w/open upper canopy. Noticed flying higher to get over dense veg. to get to other locations (3-6 feet tall veg).

Flash Location:
Flashing was done predominately 3 feet or lower but was seen higher when moving quickly through locations or in areas where there was a taller tree cover. Most of the flashing was done in or around vegetation near the bank edge.
Male Flash Behavior:
Actively moving through areas. They seemed to flash more in the same general area.
Female Flash Behavior:
None recognized but I did see what I thought might be dim lights near the ground. The bank was steep and not sure the depth of the pond in front of it so I didn’t get a good opportunity to observe this behavior.
