Approximately 27 external light sources from homes or security lamps. Most light fixtures remained free of firefly activity during observed time, specimens tended to avoid bright lights and stay in groups of a dozen or more in shadowed or dimly light areas.

Observation Notes:
Noted specimens were gathering in groups under shrubs and large bushes, with an exception to some congregating near large mature maple trees. Approximately a dozen or more were found in a mowed grassy area.

Flash Location:
Approximately 3-5 feet above ground, residing primarily in shadowed areas or areas with low light pollution. Observed within the grassy “round about” of the neighborhood, as well as in the hedge bushes and the mowed, grass areas.
Male Flash Behavior:
Flashing for a brief, less than one full second glow, waiting a few moments, then flashing again. Rhythm was steady and appeared “unhurried”.
Female Flash Behavior:
