Observation Notes:
Found 32 individuals along about a 30 meter stretch of stream, in the long grass and willows directly adjacent to the stream. Individuals were only observed in shaded areas. Spent time at the site the evening prior to the survey, and did not see any individuals. I revisited the site at 11:00 am (85 degrees F) and counted 24 individuals (with 6 mating pairs) along the same stretch of stream. Some individuals were in flight, whereas in the am, all were resting on vegetation, usually solo, though two or three mating pairs were seen in the morning too. Returned again at 3:00 pm (88 degrees F) and zero individuals were seen. Specimens were quite variable in size (about 7-9 mm) and in coloration of the pronotum, with some specimens having very little pink coloration.
