There was much more herbaceous veg (albeit the increase was from non-native clover) this year compared to previous years. There was still good dense streamside herbaceous veg, especially downstream of the main creek access/water play area. Streamside veg included native river sedge and bulrush and non-native Johnson grass, tall fescue, and cattails. Some tree canopy from mixed deciduous riparian tree species.

Even though a residential street with nearby houses occur on one side of Oak Creek, this section of Forest Service land along Oak Creek is set back from the residential, a bit lower in elevation and has fairly dense veg, so none of the residential lighting was visible at the survey locations. The moon was a sliver but was visible the entire time.

Observation Notes:
Two sets of photos from two different individuals from two different spots (Rachel's spot at the main water play area, and Janie's spot where there was much denser stream-side herbaceous veg). Each set includes one ventral and one dorsal pic. 11.5 mm in length, pointy protonum, no yellow on elytra margins.

Flash Location:
Flashes started low in herbaceous streamside veg, then got a few feet higher and flew upstream. When released, both individuals took up high up in the air as if to get out of Dodge!
Male Flash Behavior:
At first flashes were not consistent. Not until after it was darker and especially as they started to fly.

None observed.
