There are many different habitat types on this organic farm. There are some wooded areas and also grassy areas. The farm pond is a depression in the ground. It is muddy surrounding it and this is near the wooded site that we surveyed. We also surveyed at the pond.
There are also hoop houses and rows of crops. There are free-range hens, goats in a pasture, and livestock dogs.

The pale hind coxae, small size, and flash pattern (particularly the 1 second flash period at 75 degrees F), all align with Photuris hebes.
A flash duration of 3/4- 1 second would be long for hebes (Faust 2017 reports 1/4 second durations), but flash duration is hard to measure accurately.
Something distinctive about Photuris hebes flashes is that they are often “hitched.” This means they have a twinkly appearance, and if you record the flash with a photo multiplier, it has two “peaks” of light intensity, with the second peak being more intense.
